We look back on the events that made 2019 a standout year for TAK!

Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said ‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’, and 2019 marks the year our enduring journey of discovery and innovation reached new heights. From a highly-anticipated new catalogue two years in the making, to our revamped website, and the game-changing Lamitak app and the interior design application Lamitak Homes, these momentous milestones were the culmination of years of dedicated hard work by the team at TAK, the parent company of Lamitak. It has been a 30-year journey, in fact, as TAK celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2019. Let’s look at the events that made 2019 so memorable for us.

Like its predecessor, the Lamitak Portfolio Volume Two continues the theme of wanderlust by featuring a location of jawdropping natural beauty on its cover.

Our new catalogue, Portfolio Volume Two, was launched in the first half of 2019, introducing more than 40 new laminates that can be applied to create decor themes such as retroindustrialluxury, and Scandi. With new designs come new textures, mining inspiration (as usual) from breathtakingly beautiful locations around the world. One exotic locale, the stunning Alpine mountain range in Switzerland, has become the face of the new catalogue.

The months following the catalogue launch were a flurry of activity, with the introduction of the revamped Lamitak website, and the Lamitak app, which puts Lamitak’s entire collection in the palm of your hand. Featuring a reinvigorated look with improved navigation, the website delivers inspiration in spades. The app, which mirrors the website in many ways, makes selecting laminates and requesting for samples even easier than ever.

Earlier in the year, TAK was proud to receive the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) certification. The SQC recognises organisations that have attained robust business fundamentals and met standards for good business performance. Going through the process of certification helped TAK understand our strengths and areas for improvement and also guided us to achieve higher standards of performance all around.

The debut of Lamitak Homes shook up the competition once again. This first-of-its-kind interior design application, housed at the Lamitak Studio, allows users to easily visualise how selected Lamitak laminates would look like in pre-set virtual homes. The various surfaces of the four depicted interiors, together with the over 400 laminates in our catalogue, create countless of possibilities for creative expression.

At the core of Lamitak Homes is its interactive table, which works in tandem with a projector to display the virtual home in actual scale, with the laminate designs selected by the user.

Lamitak certainly knows how to throw a party, and we proved this with two affairs to remember in 2019! In June, a crowd of over 100 design professionals and design media packed the Lamitak Studio for the launch of our Portfolio Volume Two, where they received a sneak peek of Lamitak Homes, and went home with personalised gifts, too.

Then in September, we played host to more than 2,000 trade guests at the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, in our annual gathering of valued business partners from across our Southeast Asian offices in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Step Out with Lamitak: The Bangkok Party 2019, wasn’t just an occasion to showcase Lamitak’s new collections, it was also a fun night out for the guests who were entertained by some of Bangkok’s best-known music talents on stage.

This year, the annual gathering of Lamitak’s Southeast Asian business partners was named Step Out with Lamitak: The Bangkok Party 2019, and took place in early September.

Lamitak also stepped out in other ways during the year, with trade exhibitions at IndoBuildTech in Indonesia in late March, Architect in Thailand, from late April to early May, Archidex in Malaysia in early July, and ending the year with the Guangzhou Design Week in early December. Each of these showcases were great opportunities to enhance our branding regionally and introduced our new collection laminate designs to the industry.

In the second half of 2019, we travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for Archidex (pictured left), and Guangzhou, China, for Guangzhou Design Week (pictured right).
