Technology is disrupting many industries, including that of interior design. As photo renderings get hyper realistic and virtual reality applications become more commonplace, homeowners no longer have to tax their imagination in trying to visualise what their stamp-sized material samples will look like in their home. Computer programs which were once the professional domain of the interior designer is now, through technology, available to everyone with a computer or smartphone.

TAK (parent company of Lamitak) is riding on these new technologies and is proud to introduce Lamitak Homes, the first of its kind interior design application in Singapore.

What users will be able to achieve with Lamitak Homes, is to see the application of Lamitak laminates in a virtual life-size space projected on a screen as large as a wall, for a more immersive experience.

Lamitak Homes features four specially designed stylish homes with three to five rooms each, such as bedrooms and kitchens. These spaces feature a myriad of surfaces that laminates can be applied on, such as walls and cabinetry. The four homes each reflect a different theme as well, so choose the one that best reflects your taste!

The Interactive Table is the control station of the system, which uses Object Recognition Technology to recognise the chosen laminates and apply it to various surfaces of the virtual home.

Using it is extremely simple. Users first select a room. The interactive table will show numbers on the surfaces where laminate application is possible. Users simply have to place their selected door tile laminate sample on top of the number on the table – then watch as the system captures the information and changes the surface on the projected image to that of your desired laminate! To change the design, just change the laminate sample.

Users place the door tile samples on the numbers to ‘colour’ in the surfaces with the laminate design. The result is projected on the screen.

After your selection is complete, press “play” and take a virtual tour of your specially designed home featuring the Lamitak laminates you have selected. As over 400 Lamitak laminates and the entire artak range are available as door tile samples, you’ll have the whole catalogue at your disposal as you play interior designer at Lamitak Studio. So go ahead and experiment with various combinations of wood-, metal-, stone-, patterned-, and solid-coloured laminates!

Lamitak Homes is a user-friendly tool for both trade professionals and homeowners, to enable a full-scale visualisation of laminate applications in an interior space.
